L1 Lesson 1: The Good News of Salvation in Christ

INTRODUCTION

    How did you suddenly show up on earth? Dahil lang ba sa mommy mo na nagsilang sa'yo? Well, there is more to it. Lahat tayo ay resulta ng procreation na noon pang time ni Adam and Eve ay sinabi ng Dios,

“Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth..." (Genesis 1:28)

    Very interesting ang story nung start ng creation. Nilagay ni Lord si Adam and Eve sa Garden of Eden at free sila na kainin yung napakaraming kind of fruits. Very peaceful ang lahat until suddenly...

I. THE FIRST MAN AND WOMAN SINNED

    May isa kasing tree sa Garden na forbidden by God to eat--ang tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Kapag kinain nila 'yun, God warned them that they will die. 

   In the course of time ay lumabas sa scene si devil at nag-lie kay Eve. Sabi ni devil sa kanya, "you will not surely die" (Genesis 3:4). Ayun, na-tempt si Eve, kinain yung forbidden fruit, nag-disobey siya kay Lord, then inalok si Adam at nag-disobey silang dalawa! 

😒 Reflection: Nakaka-relate ka ba kina Adam and Eve? Aware ka ba na nadi-disobey mo din si Lord? 

The truth is...

II. ALL HAVE SINNED AGAINST GOD

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

"As it is written: 'None is righteous, no, not one.'" (Romans 3:10)

    Do you see? Lahat tayo ay nag-disobey kay Lord! And do you remember yung warning ni Lord sa Genesis? 

"For in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” (Genesis 2:17b)

    Ipinahayag ng Dios kay Pablo ang meaning nito sa Romans 6:23, 

Romans 6:23a ESV  For the wages of sin is death...

This leads us to the next truth. 

III. GOD MUST PUNISH ALL SINNERS

    Hindi na pwedeng bawiin ng Dios ang sinabi Niya. At kapag hindi Niya pinarusahan ang sinners ay magiging liar Siya. Gets mo? 

    Well, hindi tayo katulad ni Lord na pabago-bago ng pagiisip. He is true to His word at part ito ng Kanyang righteousness. Therefore, since we all sinned, God must punish us with death! At alam mo ba kung anong uri ng death ito? Ito ay eternal separation from God--eternal death in hell! Ipinakita ito ni Lord kay John sa Revelation 21:8, 

"But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8) 

😕 Reflection: Natatakot ka bang mapunta sa hell? 

Don't worry. May good news na ibinalita ang Bible ever since! Dahil sa mercy and grace ng Dios ay gumawa Siya ng solution para sa ating forgiveness and salvation. Alam mo kung sino ang solution ng Dios? His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ!

IV. GOD SENT HIS SON TO SAVE US

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

    At alam mo ba kung ano ang meaning nung "he gave his only Son"? Namatay si Jesus kapalit natin!

"Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us...” (Galatians 3:13a)

"In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace." (Ephesians 1:7) 

    Do you see? Ang curse of death ay supposed to be para sa atin, pero kinuha yun ni Jesus! Siya ang namatay on our behalf! Why? Para magkaroon tayo ng chance ng forgiveness and eternal life! Gets mo?   

😞 Reflection: Na-realize mo ba ang sacrifice ni Jesus para sa iyo at sa akin? Na-realize mo ba yung concern and love ng Dios para iligtas Niya tayo? 

    Pero may pero! May hinahanap ang Dios na right response natin sa good news na ito. 

VII. WE NEED TO REPENT AND BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST

“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel [or good news].” (Mark 1:15)

"Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out." (Acts 3:19)

    Ang repentance o pagsisisi ay change of mind. Kailangan nating i-accept sa ating mind na nagkasala tayo sa Dios at i-confess sa Kanya ang ang mga ito at mag-ask ng forgiveness.  

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9) 

    Hindi lang confession ng sins ang dapat nating gawin kungdi ang confession ng ating faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9) 

"But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12)

🔐 Reflection: 

1. Gusto mo bang iligtas ka ng Dios from eternal hell?
2. Willing ka bang mag-repent from all your sins? 
3. Ready ka bang magtiwala kay Jesus for your forgiveness and salvation?
4. Handa mo bang tanggapin si Jesus bilang Panginoon at Tagapagligtas?

    Ito ang ilang benefits kung magre-repent ka at magtitiwala kay Jesus bilang Panginoon at Tagapagligtas:

1. God will forgive you from all your sins (Ac 3:19;1Jn 1:9).  
2. God will assure you of eternal life (Jn 3:16; Rom 19:9).
3. God will make you His child (Jn 1:12).  

    Kung willing ka na i-express sa Dios ang iyong pagsisisi at pananalig kay Jesus, pwede mo itong gawin by coming to Him in prayer. Gawing guide ang prayer below, pero gawin mo ito sincerely from the heart with an attitude of humility:

🙏 Father in heaven, nagpapakumbaba po ako sa inyong harapan at inaamin ang aking mga kasalanan. Nagsisisi po ako at humihingi sa Inyo ng tawad sa lahat ng aking sins. Thank you po sa iyong mercy and grace. Thank you sa pag-send Mo ng iyong Anak bilang kapalit ko sa krus. Lord Jesus, ipinapahayag ko po ang aking pananalig sa Iyo. Naniniwala po ako na Ikaw namatay para sa aming kapatawaran. Naniniwala po ako na Ikaw ay nabuhay na mag-uli. Lord Jesus, tinatanggap kita at pinagtitiwalaan bilang Hari at Tagapagligtas. Nakahanda po akong talikuran ang kasalanan at magpasakop sa iyong will. Salamat po sa promise mong forgiveness and eternal life. Hinihiling ko po na baguhin ninyo ang aking puso at buhay. Sa pangalan ni Jesus, Amen!

    Kung sincere sa puso mo ang prayer na ito ay totoo din si Lord sa promise Niya. Yung 3 benefits sa itaas ay gagawin Niyang totoo para sa iyo. Re-read!

    Bukod sa benefits ng forgiveness, gift of eternal life, and the privilege of becoming God's child, ito pa ang truth na sinasabi ng Bible:

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." (2 Corinthians 5:17)

    May pagbabagong ginagawa ang Dios sa mga totoong nagsisi at nanalig sa Kanyang Anak--pinapalambot Niya ang dating matigas na puso upang maging masunurin sa Kanyang will (Ezekiel 36:25-27). Kung totoong tinanggap mo si Jesus sa iyong buhay bilang Panginoon at Tagapagligtas, obserbahan ang pagbabagong ito na gagawin Niya sa iyong buhay!

✅ What's next?

1. Bible. Ituring ang Bible na spiritual milk para sa iyong spiritual growth. Mag-start na magbasa sa book of John at least one chapter a day. 
2. Prayer. Magkasama palagi ang Bible meditation and prayer. Dito lalalim at magiging stronger ang relationship mo kay Lord.  
3. Worship. Hindi lang ito tuwing Sunday kungdi ito ay ang iyong life na pine-present mo sa Dios daily as an offering kasama ang commitment to be holy and acceptable unto Him (Rom 12:1). 
4. Fellowship. Mahalaga ang influence sa iyo ng growing believers para tumatag ka sa iyong faith. Maki-fellowship sa isang small group (e.g., Discipleship Group and Youth Fellowship). 
5. Share God's love to others. Kailangan ng iba si Jesus para sa forgiveness and salvation. Ibahagi sa iba ang good news na narinig mo at ang love ni Lord na naranasan mo at mararanasan pa. Maaaring magpatulong sa nag-share sa iyo ng gospel or ka-small group.
